St Patrick’s Day Festival

St. Patrick’s Day is a day of festivity, celebrating our national identity, our patron saint and our diversity as a country. We are the envy of the world for one day evident by iconic landmarks across the globe turning green to join in our celebrations. The Mullingar Saint Patrick’s Day Committee would like to make Mullingar’s 2017 celebration of our national holiday the best yet.

The Committee has put together a structured schedule which we hope will guarantee an enhanced parade and day for the town. The day will start with the annual Mullingar Half Marathon which is in aid of local charity T.E.A.M. The Committee, along with the half marathon organisers, will create a festival atmosphere in the Mullingar Town Park – the finish line of the half marathon. A mini festival will be created with some great traditional music and local food stalls. Other events include a pub 5-a-side Zorb football competition on Dominick Street, Children’s entertainment on Castle Street and Local Music on the Market Square/Mount Street.

However, our main attraction will take place at 4pm, our town’s parade, where local businesses and community groups will be given the opportunity to take centre stage. Feedback every year from the public is that they want to see more creative business floats which they believe would help to add to the wow factor of the float and the success of the parade.

There is no charge for community entrants as usual, but there is a charge of €100 for commercial entries. We are asking that businesses team up with a local school or community organisation to enter a creative float and use the opportunity to advertise their business, both on the day and on social media, to a large audience. We have many community groups and charity organisations in the area, and the parade is a great opportunity to showcase what they have achieved.  This is your chance to be as creative as possible and to showcase a community group, local school or charity of your choice whilst also highlighting your business in the best possible light.
